Thank you for starting this forum. It's really worrying that there is such little engagement from Camden Council regarding such a huge change to our neighbourhood. The Dartmouth Park LTN is the largest LTN to be proposed in London. It will divert traffic from the area with the largest car ownership and the quietest roads (Dartmouth Park) on to the peripheral roads like Fortess rd and Highgate road, which are already bearing the brunt of the traffic. It will massively increase congestion and pollution on Fortess rd and the proposal for a bus lane and cycle lane will make it impossible for residents and businesses to park. Public transport will also be slowed down as a result.
Ironically, Camden Council have declared this "The year of clean air for Camden schools". This traffic proposal will result in the opposite and add to the pollution levels and an increased safety risk for children crossing what will be a much busier road on their way to school. We should be fighting for the health and safety of our children in our local infant and primary school Eleanor Palmer, whose playground sits on Fortess road - and resisting this socially divisive and poorly researched scheme.
We should also be petitioning the council to make serious in-roads into reducing traffic overall for the benefit of everyone and not the minority.
